I don't know if it's the true 001, but it's DEFINITELY the most well-written.
Not just because of the idea.
Not just because of the detail.
Not even because of the huge amount of WDB-related memes.
But because, upon hearing about it for the first time on TVTropes (I didn't actually read it), it struck a cord with me that no other entry, proposal or not, did.
THANK GOODNESS the SCP Mythos isn't real, but out of all the entire wiki's entries, most have unsettling themes but are still well-made reads.
This is THE ONLY entry on the ENTIRE SITE that genuinely TERRIFIES me!

I wouldn't consider a lot of SCPs terrifying but this actually managed to keep me up at night

One of the few SCPs that legitimately terrified me, right up there with 610 and 049. I get that 049 has a lot of fan(girl)s, but they’ve been lured in by the “good intentions” and British accent in the revised entry. Think about what he can do to us!! If a SNAIL could kill me just by touching me, I’d be running for my life!

WHY IT'S 001:

The item’s anomaly, and also the reason for entering the highest slot. Given a “shared structure” between proposals, said reason can be narrowed to five categories:

ORIGINAL: The first SCP ever discovered.
CREATOR: Something that created most (or all) other SCPs.
DESTROYER: The thing that will destroy everything.
HARBINGER: The messenger of the destruction of everything.
REALITY: It has something to do with all of existence.

WHERE:

The current location – and how it got that way.
